Learners spot their delay triggers, practise the two-minute start, chunking and a focus timer, then build a personal homework launch plan to use that evening.

Almost every kid knows the feeling: the homework is sitting right there, but somehow the snack, the phone and the pencil sharpener all seem more urgent. This one-time class treats procrastination as a normal habit that can be changed, not a character flaw, and gives learners practical tools they can try the very same day.
We start by looking at why we put things off. Learners spot their own top three 'delay triggers', such as not knowing where to begin, a task that feels too big, or distractions nearby. Then we practice quick start-up tricks: the two-minute start, breaking an assignment into tiny first steps, and using a short focus timer with a planned break.
The class is built with ADHD-friendly pacing. Activities change every few minutes, instructions are given one step at a time and shown on screen, and learners move, stretch and check in between tasks. Nobody is asked to share personal struggles unless they want to.
By the end, each learner fills in a simple homework launch plan: where they will work, what they will do first, how long their first focus burst will be and what reward comes after. They take it home ready to use that evening.
The teacher explains each strategy with a quick example, then learners try it on a real or sample homework task while the teacher checks in. The class ends with each learner sharing one strategy they will use tonight.

It is for learners aged 9 to 13 who often delay starting homework or feel stuck at the beginning of a task. It works well for kids with ADHD or executive function challenges, as well as anyone who wants a better after-school routine.
A notebook, a pencil and a timer (a kitchen timer or phone timer is fine). If possible, bring one real homework assignment to practise on; otherwise the teacher provides a sample task.
No. Sharing is always optional, and learners can type in the chat instead of speaking. The class focuses on trying strategies, not on discussing personal difficulties.
Each learner leaves with a filled-in homework launch plan showing where they will work, their first small step, the length of their focus burst and their reward. It is designed to be used the same evening.
The examples and pacing suit ages 9 to 13, with flexible support for learners at either end of the range. Younger children may need a parent nearby to help with the written plan.
