Advanced Prompt Engineering Masterclass
Learn how language models respond, then practise structured prompts, few-shot examples, step-by-step reasoning, prompt chains and simple prompt testing, finishing with a personal prompt toolkit.

A single 90-minute masterclass where experienced teen AI users learn advanced prompt engineering techniques used by developers. Learners practise structured prompts, few-shot examples, step-by-step reasoning and evaluation, and leave with a reusable prompt toolkit.

Most teens who use AI chatbots type a quick question and accept whatever comes back. This advanced masterclass shows what changes when you treat a prompt like a piece of engineering. In one focused 90-minute session, learners who already use AI tools learn the techniques developers rely on to get accurate, consistent and useful results from large language models.
We start by looking at how language models actually generate text, and why that explains common failures such as confident wrong answers, drifting instructions and vague output. With that model in mind, learners practise structured prompts with clear roles, context, constraints and output formats.
Next we move to advanced patterns: few-shot examples that teach the model a format, asking for step-by-step reasoning on hard problems, breaking big tasks into prompt chains, and requesting structured output like tables or JSON. Each technique is demonstrated live, then learners solve a short challenge with it and compare results.
The final part focuses on judgement. Learners design simple tests to check whether a prompt really works, spot hallucinations, and discuss responsible use, including academic honesty, privacy and bias. They leave with a personal prompt toolkit document they can keep using for coding, research and creative projects.
The class alternates short live demos with hands-on prompt challenges. Learners work in their own AI tool, share results in chat and compare approaches with the group, with the teacher giving feedback on each attempt.
Explain why language models produce errors and vague answers
Write structured prompts with roles, context, constraints and formats
Use few-shot examples, step-by-step reasoning and prompt chains
Test prompts and spot hallucinated or unreliable output
Use AI tools responsibly for schoolwork and projects
Learners should already use an AI chatbot regularly and be comfortable typing and editing longer prompts. Basic coding knowledge helps for the JSON example but is not required.
A computer with a web browser; access to a free AI chatbot account approved by a parent or guardian (age rules vary by service); a notebook for recording prompt patterns.

It is for teens aged 13–17 who already use AI chatbots regularly and want to go far beyond basic questions. It suits learners interested in coding, research or AI careers.
Any major AI chatbot works, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, as long as a parent or guardian has approved the account and it meets that service's age rules. The techniques taught apply across tools.
This is a single live class, so learners need to attend at the scheduled time. If you cannot make it, you can enroll in a different section of the class when one is available.
They will leave with a personal prompt toolkit document of patterns and examples practised in class. There is no certificate or graded assessment.
This class is marked Advanced and moves quickly, so it is best for teens who are already comfortable with AI tools and typing longer prompts. Beginners may prefer an introductory AI class first.
The coaching team consists of college students and graduates specializing in computer science, physics, mathematics, and related STEM fields. Coaches combine technical expertise with classroom and mentoring experience to create project-based, hands-on lessons that make coding and…
