How does a computer turn a sentence into a picture? In this one-day winter camp, kids find out by using an AI image tool to create their own holiday greeting cards for family and friends.
The class starts with a quick, kid-friendly look at how AI image generators learn from many pictures and why the words we type matter. Learners then practice prompt writing: adding a subject, a setting, colors and an art style, and comparing what changes when they change one word. Next, they design two cards, picking their favorite AI image, adding their own message and arranging it in a card layout in Canva. The class ends with a short discussion about using AI fairly, such as giving credit, not copying other artists' styles and keeping personal information private.
The class is dyslexia-friendly. Prompts are built from picture-word cards and short phrase templates, spelling help is always available, and learners can say their ideas out loud before typing. The teacher shares the screen for every step and checks in with each learner.
Every learner leaves with at least two finished digital holiday cards ready to print or send, plus a prompt-writing checklist they can reuse for future creative projects.
This is a single 75-minute live class. The teacher demonstrates on screen, learners try each step in their own browser and the group shares cards in a short gallery walk at the end.
