An eight-week course on environmental storytelling in Roblox Studio. Learners build worlds where objects, paths and lighting reveal a story players discover by exploring.

Paid once.
The best game worlds tell stories without a single word of dialogue. In this eight-week course learners learn environmental storytelling, the art of using objects, layout and lighting to show what happened in a place.
Learners begin by exploring examples, such as a campsite left in a hurry or a lab after an experiment went wrong, and discussing what clues reveal the story. They then write a short backstory for their own world, such as an abandoned explorer outpost or a village preparing for a festival. Over the next weeks learners build the world in stages, starting with the main location and adding story clues like footprints, broken objects, notes and changes in weather.
In the middle weeks learners focus on guiding players. They learn how paths, lighting and landmarks lead players through a world and design a route that reveals the story in the right order. Learners also explore color and mood, using warm and cool lighting to signal safety or danger.
In the final weeks learners add a beginning and ending moment and invite classmates to explore their world and guess the story. The teacher gives feedback on clarity and mood.
By the end learners will have a story-driven world and an understanding of how designers communicate through environments. No coding is required.
Each class pairs a storytelling idea with a building task. Learners add clues and paths to their world and test whether classmates can read the story.
