Roblox Sci-Fi City: Build a Futuristic Skyline

What will cities look like in the future? In this eight-week course learners imagine and build a sci-fi city in Roblox Studio, exploring futuristic architecture, lighting and urban design.

Learners begin by looking at science fiction art and real futuristic buildings for inspiration, then plan a city layout with districts such as a downtown core, a residential zone and a spaceport. They build their first skyscraper, learning how to use repeated floors, glass materials and interesting rooftops. Next they add sky bridges, elevated walkways and transit tubes that connect buildings at different heights.

Over the following weeks learners design neon street signs and glowing details using lights and neon materials, build hover cars and drones as decorations, and create a futuristic park with floating gardens. They think about how people would live, work and travel in their city and include features like vertical farms or solar towers.

In the final weeks learners refine the skyline so it looks impressive from a distance, set up a night-time lighting scene and capture cinematic screenshots. They present a city tour explaining the ideas behind their design.

The teacher demonstrates techniques for building at large scale and gives feedback on composition and style. No coding is required.

How classes work

Each week the teacher demonstrates a sci-fi building technique. Learners add a new district or feature to their city and share it with the group.
