Class Experience
Multiplayer games depend on the server and each player's device sharing information. This eight-week intermediate course explains how that works in Roblox and teaches learners to use RemoteEvents and RemoteFunctions with confidence.
Learners begin by exploring the difference between server scripts and LocalScripts and why some code must run in one place and not the other. They then send their first message from a button on the player's screen to the server. Over the next weeks they build real multiplayer features: a shop where clicking buy asks the server to check coins and give an item, a team announcement button and a ready-up system that starts a round when everyone is ready.
A big focus of the course is security. Learners learn why the server must check every request, so players cannot cheat by sending fake messages. They practice writing server checks for coins, cooldowns and distance.
The teacher uses simple diagrams to show messages travelling between the player and the server, then live-codes each feature. Learners test with multiple players in Studio and fix problems together.
By the end learners have a small multiplayer game with a working shop and round system. The course is designed for learners aged ten and up who are comfortable with functions, tables and GUI basics.
How classes work
Each class starts with a diagram of how messages travel, then guided coding of one multiplayer feature. Learners test with several simulated players in Studio and debug together.
What we'll cover
Week 1: Server and Client – Learn which code runs on the server and which runs on the player's device.
