Roblox Pet Game for Young Coders: Ages 6-8

Young children love pets, and this four-week course turns that love into a first game-building adventure. Learners aged 6 to 8 build a cozy pet world in Roblox Studio with plenty of help and encouragement.

In week one learners explore Roblox Studio by placing blocks to build a pet house, a garden and a pond. They choose colors and sizes and learn to move the camera. Week two introduces their pet. Learners place a ready-made pet model, give it a name sign and use a simple script the teacher provides so the pet hops when touched. In week three learners add care items like food bowls, toys and beds, and they change one word or number in a script to make the pet spin, change color or make a sound. The final week is a pet party, where learners decorate their world and show their pet game to the class.

Every class is short on talk and big on doing, with picture instructions and lots of check-ins. The teacher explains simple coding ideas such as cause and effect using friendly examples. A parent may help with logging in during the first class.

By the end learners will have built a playable pet world and taken their first steps into game design and coding.

How classes work

Short demos are followed by plenty of hands-on building time. The teacher checks in with each learner and celebrates every creation.

• Week 2: Meet Your Pet – Add a pet and a script that makes it hop.

• Week 3: Care Items and Code Changes – Add bowls and toys and change script values.

• Week 4: Pet Party – Decorate and share the pet game.

No experience needed. Learners should be able to use a mouse. A parent may help with the first login.
