Roblox Lighting and Atmosphere: Make Your Worlds Look Amazing

Two Roblox worlds can have the same buildings yet feel completely different because of lighting. In this four-week course learners discover how game artists use light, color and atmosphere to set the mood of a scene.

In week one learners explore the Lighting service, adjusting time of day, brightness and ambient color to create bright mornings, golden sunsets and calm nights. Week two introduces atmosphere and sky settings, including fog, haze and custom skyboxes, and learners use them to build a misty forest and a clear mountain view. In week three learners work with light sources such as point lights, spotlights and surface lights, placing lanterns, street lamps and glowing signs, and they add post-processing effects like bloom, color correction and depth of field.

The final week is a lighting challenge. Learners receive the same simple scene and transform it into three different moods, such as cozy, spooky and dreamlike, then present their versions side by side.

The teacher shows examples from films and games and explains basic color theory, including warm and cool colors and contrast. Learners practice taking screenshots that show their work at its best.

By the end learners will know how to make any Roblox build look more polished. Basic Roblox Studio skills are recommended.

How classes work

Each class introduces one set of lighting tools with examples. Learners apply them to their own scene and share before and after screenshots.
