Roblox Girls Code: Build a Pet Cafe Game

This eight-week course gives girls aged 8 to 12 a friendly, collaborative space to learn Lua coding by building something they will love: a pet cafe game where players serve drinks and snacks while caring for adorable cafe pets.

Learners begin by designing their cafe, choosing a theme such as a cat cafe, a bunny bakery or a puppy smoothie bar, and building it in Roblox Studio. They then write their first scripts to make menu buttons light up and pets react when touched. Over the next weeks learners code an order system where customers ask for an item and the player delivers it, earning coins for each correct order.

In the middle weeks learners add pet care. They code hunger and happiness meters for cafe pets and let players spend coins on treats and toys. Later weeks introduce upgrades, such as a bigger kitchen or new pet friends, and a simple daily goal that keeps players coming back.

The teacher shares stories of women in game development and encourages learners to help each other, ask questions and celebrate creative ideas. Learners present their cafes in a final showcase and give each other positive feedback.

By the end each learner will have a playable pet cafe game and new confidence as a coder. No prior coding experience is required.

How classes work

Each class mixes a short coding lesson with collaborative build time in a small all-girls group. Learners share progress and support each other.

• Week 8: Cafe Showcase – Present cafes and give positive feedback.

No coding experience needed. Basic Roblox Studio navigation is helpful.
