Roblox Coding for Young Beginners: First Games for Ages 6-8

Young children love Roblox, and many want to know how to make their own games. This eight-week course gives learners aged 6 to 8 a gentle, playful first experience with Roblox Studio and the ideas behind coding.

Each class is short on talk and big on doing. Learners begin by learning to move the camera, place blocks and change their color and size. They build a simple house and a path. Next they explore cause and effect with ready-made scripts the teacher provides, such as a block that changes color when touched or a button that makes a door disappear. Learners change one word or number in the script, like a color name or a speed, and see what happens.

Over the following weeks learners build small games, including a coin path, a color-changing dance floor and a simple jump course. They learn the coding idea of sequence by putting steps in order and the idea of repeat by watching loops make lights blink. Everything is explained with simple words, pictures and lots of encouragement.

The teacher moves at a comfortable pace and checks in with every learner. A parent may help with setup and logging in during the first class.

By the end learners will confidently build in Roblox Studio and understand that code tells the game what to do.

How classes work

Short demos are followed by plenty of hands-on building time. The teacher checks in with each learner and celebrates every creation.

• Week 2: Build a House and Path – Resize and color blocks to build.

• Week 3: Cause and Effect – Use a script that changes color on touch.

• Week 4: Change the Code – Edit colors and speeds in ready-made scripts.

• Week 5: Coin Path Game – Build a path of coins to collect.

• Week 6: Steps in Order – Learn sequence by ordering game steps.

• Week 7: Blinking Lights and Repeat – See loops make a dance floor change.

• Week 8: My First Game Show – Build a jump course and share it.

No experience needed. Learners should be able to use a mouse. A parent may help with the first login.
