Roblox Co-op Challenges: Design Games That Need Teamwork

Some of the best game moments happen when players must work together. In this four-week course learners design cooperative challenges in Roblox Studio that require teamwork to solve.

In week one learners explore what makes co-op games fun, including shared goals, different roles and moments where players need each other. They build their first challenge, a door that only opens when two pressure plates are pressed at the same time. Week two focuses on roles. Learners design challenges where players have different jobs, such as one player operating a lift while another crosses a gap, or one player reading a map while the other navigates. In week three learners build a cooperative obstacle course with several team challenges in a row and add a shared team timer. The final week is co-op test day, where learners play each other's challenges in pairs and small groups, then reflect on communication and teamwork.

The teacher provides simple scripts for pressure plates, lifts and doors so learners can focus on design. Learners discuss how communication, patience and listening help teams succeed in games and in real life.

By the end learners will have a co-op challenge course and a better understanding of teamwork. No coding experience is required.

How classes work

Each class introduces a co-op design idea and learners build a challenge. Classmates test challenges together and reflect on teamwork.
