Roblox Adventure Quest: Code NPCs, Quests and Rewards

Adventure games pull players in with characters, missions and a world to explore. In this eight-week course learners build their own adventure quest game in Roblox Studio and learn to code the systems that make quests work.

Learners begin by designing a small world with a village, a forest and a mysterious cave. They create a quest giver character and script a simple dialogue that appears when a player walks up and clicks. Next they build a quest tracker that shows the player's current objective on screen, such as collect five mushrooms or find the lost key. Learners write code that counts progress and marks the quest complete.

In the middle weeks learners add rewards like coins, new tools and badges, and they code locked areas that open only when certain quests are finished. They chain quests together into a short storyline with a beginning, middle and end. In the final weeks learners add a simple map, sound effects and a celebration when the main quest is done.

The teacher demonstrates each system with live coding and helps learners plan quests that are clear and fun. Learners playtest each other's adventures and suggest improvements.

By the end each learner has a playable adventure with at least three connected quests. Basic Roblox Studio skills are recommended.

How classes work

Each class introduces one quest system with live coding. Learners add it to their adventure and playtest with classmates at the end of class.

• Week 6: Locked Areas – Open new zones after quests are finished.

• Week 7: Quest Chains – Link quests into a short storyline.

• Week 8: Polish and Playtest – Add a map, sounds and a finale celebration.

Basic Roblox Studio navigation. Some exposure to Lua is helpful but not required.
