1-on-1 Advanced Minecraft Modding: Custom Mobs and Items

This course is for teens ready for advanced modding. They design and code custom mobs with their own AI behaviors, special items and abilities in Java.

The coach teaches object-oriented design and professional debugging habits along the way, and teens finish with an ambitious mod they designed themselves.

How classes work

Every session is private and paced to the learner. The teacher starts by checking where the learner is, adjusts the plan to their goals and gives detailed feedback in every class.

What we'll cover

• Session 1: Planning a Mod – Plan the mobs, items and abilities for the mod.

• Session 2: Entity Basics – Create a custom entity class.

• Session 3: Mob AI – Program movement, targeting and attack behaviors.

• Session 4: Models and Textures – Add models and textures for the new mob.

• Session 5: Special Items – Code items with special abilities.

• Session 6: Balancing – Balance difficulty and gameplay.

• Session 7: Debugging – Find and fix tricky bugs using logs and the debugger.

• Session 8: Release – Package and present the finished mod.

Some Java or modding experience needed.
