Class Experience
Space is a natural fit for young builders. In this eight-week course learners in grades 3 to 5 explore the solar system and use what they learn to design and build their own space station in Roblox Studio.
The course begins with the Sun and the planets. Learners build a scaled model of the solar system, comparing planet sizes and distances and discovering why scale models are tricky. Next they learn about the Moon's phases and build a lunar landing site. Each week focuses on one planet group or space topic, such as rocky inner planets, gas giants, gravity in space and how astronauts live and work in orbit.
As they learn, learners add modules to their space station. They design a sleeping area, a science lab, a greenhouse for growing food and a docking bay. For each module they explain what astronauts need and why, connecting science facts to design decisions. Learners also adjust gravity settings to see how movement changes in space.
The teacher shares images and simple facts from real space missions and guides learners through each build. Learners present their station on a final tour day, describing each module and the planet facts they discovered.
By the end learners will know key facts about the solar system and have a detailed space station of their own design. No prior Roblox Studio experience is required.
How classes work
Each class introduces a space science topic with images and facts. Learners then add a related module to their space station and share what they built.
What we'll cover
Week 1: The Sun and Planets – Build a scaled model of the solar system.
Week 2: The Moon – Learn Moon phases and build a lunar landing site.
Week 3: Rocky Inner Planets – Compare Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
Week 4: Gas Giants – Explore Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Week 5: Gravity in Space – Adjust gravity and see how movement changes.
Week 6: Living in Orbit – Design sleeping and lab modules for astronauts.
Week 7: Food and Docking – Add a greenhouse and docking bay to the station.
Week 8: Station Tour Day – Present the station and explain the science behind it.
