Learners in grades 4-7 design a town powered by renewable energy in Roblox Studio. Over eight weeks they build wind, solar and hydro power and balance energy supply and demand.

Paid once.
How can a town run on clean energy? In this eight-week course learners in grades 4 to 7 explore renewable energy and design a town in Roblox Studio that is powered by wind, sun and water.
Learners begin by learning what energy is, where electricity comes from and the difference between renewable and non-renewable sources. They build a small town with homes, a school and shops and give each building an energy need. Next they build solar panel fields and discover how the angle of panels and time of day affect power. Learners then build wind turbines on hills and explore why location matters, followed by a hydroelectric dam on a river.
In the middle weeks learners use provided scripts that track energy produced and energy used, displaying the totals on a town dashboard. They experiment with adding or removing power sources and buildings to balance supply and demand. Learners also explore energy storage with batteries for nighttime and windless days.
In the final weeks learners compare the pros and cons of each energy source, add energy-saving features to buildings, and present a plan for a fully renewable town. The teacher connects each idea to real-world examples.
By the end learners will understand renewable energy and the challenge of balancing supply and demand. No coding experience is required.
Each class introduces an energy concept and a building task. Learners test their town's energy balance on a dashboard and share results.
