Meet My Puppet: Make and Name a Friend
Learners decorate a sock or paper-bag puppet, choose its name and favourite thing, and have it say hello to the group.

Young learners make a simple sock or paper-bag puppet, give it a name and a voice, and build a short puppet story they perform for the group on the final day of this four-day camp.

This playful camp uses puppets to help young children find their speaking voice. Because the puppet does the talking, shy learners often feel braver, and confident ones learn to slow down and speak clearly. Each child makes their own puppet from a sock or paper bag and decides who it is and what it loves.
Through songs, call-and-response games and short acting warm-ups, learners practise loud and soft voices, happy and surprised faces, and taking turns. Together they build a tiny three-part story for their puppet, with a hello, a problem and a happy ending, and perform it in a mini puppet show.
This camp runs as four back-to-back daily 25-minute sessions over one week. Each session builds on the last, moving from making the puppet to finding its voice, building its story and rehearsing. The final session is a mini puppet show where every child performs.
Make and name a simple hand puppet character
Speak in a clear, loud voice through a puppet
Show feelings with voice and face
Tell a short story with a beginning, middle and end
Perform for an audience and take turns listening
No experience needed, and no reading is required. Learners need a computer or tablet, a clean old sock or paper bag, and crayons or markers. A grown-up nearby to help at the start, especially with setting up the puppet, is welcome.
Learners turn a sock or paper bag into a puppet, decorating it with crayons, paper scraps or yarn for hair, and use it in every session.
A step-by-step plan of what your child learns, class by class. · 1 Week
Learners decorate a sock or paper-bag puppet, choose its name and favourite thing, and have it say hello to the group.
Through voice games and echo songs, learners try different puppet voices and feelings, practising clear speech and taking turns with friends.
Learners create a tiny three-part story for their puppet with a greeting, a small problem and a happy ending, using picture prompts.
Each child performs their short puppet story for the group and any family watching nearby, then takes a bow while classmates clap and cheer.

No experience is needed, and your child does not need to read. Everything is taught through songs, games and picture prompts. If your child can follow simple spoken instructions and enjoys pretend play, they are ready to join.
Please have a clean old sock or a paper bag, crayons or markers, and a glue stick ready. Paper scraps or yarn are nice extras for hair and clothes. The puppet is made together in the first session and used in every session after that.
Not unless they want to. The puppet does the talking, which helps many shy children feel braver. Learners can speak together, echo the teacher, or simply have their puppet wave and nod. Every bit of participation is celebrated, and confidence usually grows over the four days.
Your child will have made their own puppet character, practised speaking in different puppet voices, and built a tiny three-part story. On the final day they perform that story in a mini puppet show, speaking clearly through their puppet for the group.
The camp runs for one week with four live sessions, one each day, back to back. Each session lasts 25 minutes, which suits young attention spans. Sessions build on each other, from making the puppet to performing in the final mini puppet show.
Very likely, yes. The age range is a flexible guide. A child just outside it may fit well if they can follow simple spoken instructions and enjoy pretend play. Younger learners may benefit from a grown-up nearby, especially during the first session.
Cancel from the class in the parent dashboard. You get a full refund if you cancel before the second session starts. After that, sessions already started count as used and sessions not yet started are refunded, to store credit or the original payment method. For illness or emergencies, contact support, who review each case.
There is no homework and no certificate. Children are welcome to play with their puppet at home and tell its story to family between sessions, but this is optional. All the making and rehearsing happens during the live sessions.
