Grade 3 Full Curriculum: English, Math & Science

This full-year Grade 3 homeschool curriculum brings English Language Arts, Math, and Science together in a structured, engaging program. Classes meet four times each week for 45 minutes across a 36-week school year, providing regular practice and steady skill development in a small-group setting. English lessons focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary growth, and writing. Weekly reading sessions use guided discussion to teach predicting, main idea, cause and effect, character analysis, sequencing, making inferences, summarizing, and identifying theme and author’s purpose. Grammar and writing lessons cover sentence types, nouns, pronouns, verbs, tense, punctuation, and editing, with writing practice built into every English class. Math instruction emphasizes number sense and place value (to 10,000), comparison and ordering, rounding, estimation, and pattern recognition. Students practice multi-digit addition and subtraction, mental strategies, and problem solving, plus foundational work with fractions, measurement, and basic geometry. Regular guided practice and occasional math review sessions reinforce new concepts. Science lessons develop curiosity through observation, discussion, and simple hands-on experiments. Units include forces and motion, friction, gravity, magnetism, plant structure and photosynthesis, pollination, life cycles, and comparisons of plant and animal growth. Small class sizes allow for questions, participation, and personalized feedback. Families can request reasonable adjustments to better match a child’s interests or learning needs. By the end of the year, learners will have stronger foundations in reading, writing, math, and science and greater confidence as independent thinkers.
