We signed my 11-year-old up for the 15-week Ancient History Writing course to build writing structure using IEW techniques. The mix of retelling narratives, summarizing references, and composing from pictures helped her organize notes and outlines, and the teacher edits plus chances to share work were useful. The pacing and once-a-week format felt appropriate for ages 11–16.

Overall very positive—my 14-year-old appreciated the practice writing from notes and composing from pictures, though we wished there were more than one 50-minute lesson per week.

My 11-year-old was skeptical at first, but this 15-week IEW Science-Themed Writing — Part 2 class really won him over. The 50-minute weekly lessons on scientists, inventions, and outdoor exploration made the topics interesting, and the focus on keyword outlines and summarizing multiple references helped his organization. We also liked the two-step homework process—drafting and submitting a final after teacher edits—and the optional 1:1 help was a useful backup when he needed extra guidance.

As a parent of a 12-year-old, I appreciated how the IEW Level B U.S. History Writing course broke writing into manageable steps—50-minute lessons once a week over 15 weeks fit our schedule well. The emphasis on outlining, note-taking, keyword outlines, and drafting from pictures made the process clear, and the homework cycle with teacher edits and revised final drafts really boosted my child's confidence and organization. Pacing felt appropriate for this age and the historical topics kept them engaged.
