Research Paper Camp: From Question to Citation

Students learn the full research process in this two-week camp: choosing a question, finding reliable sources, taking organized notes, outlining, drafting and citing correctly.

Each session completes one step, so by the end students have a short, well-cited research paper and a process they can reuse for any school project.

How classes work

Camp meets on back-to-back days. Each day builds on the last, mixing short demos, hands-on work and time to share progress, so learners finish the week with a complete project.

What we'll cover

• Day 1: Research Question – Choose a topic and turn it into a focused research question.

• Day 2: Finding Sources – Search databases and the web and judge which sources are reliable.

• Day 3: Note-Taking – Take organized notes and avoid accidental plagiarism.

• Day 4: Outlining – Build a detailed outline with a thesis and evidence.

• Day 5: Drafting – Write the first draft paragraph by paragraph.

• Day 6: Citations and Final Draft – Add citations in MLA or APA and finalize the paper.

Some prior experience is helpful. Learners need a device with a camera and microphone for live classes.
