Fortnite Math: Storm Circles, Angles and Coordinates

Fortnite is full of math: map grids, shrinking storm circles, building angles and loot chances. In this six-week course learners use those ideas to practise coordinates, geometry, area and probability.

Every class connects one math topic to a game situation, such as plotting a drop location on a grid or comparing the area of storm circles. Learners solve problems in teams, explain strategies and finish with a game-design math challenge.

How classes work

Each week starts with a short live demo of the new idea, followed by guided practice while the teacher checks in with every learner. Classes end with a small challenge to try before next time.

What we'll cover

• Week 1: Map Grids and Coordinates – Plot drop zones and routes on a coordinate grid.

• Week 2: Building Angles – Measure and classify angles used in ramps and walls.

• Week 3: Storm Circle Area – Calculate how much the storm circle shrinks using area of circles.

• Week 4: Distance and Rotation – Use distance and timing to plan safe rotations.

• Week 5: Loot Chances – Compare probabilities of finding different items.

• Week 6: Game Math Challenge – Design and solve a strategy challenge using every skill from the course.

No experience needed. Learners need a device with a camera and microphone for live classes.
