The read-aloud format and emphasis on lyrical prose and the book's unique vocabulary were definite strengths — my 10-year-old engaged with the material and the ideas about storytelling. The framework of following three converging character arcs made the analysis approachable. However, with only one 45-minute lesson per week over 13 weeks, we sometimes felt there wasn't enough frequent practice to build stronger reflective analytical writing skills. Overall useful, but we would have liked more frequent sessions or additional practice opportunities.
