Class Experience
Mystery writers carefully plan clues so readers can solve the case if they pay attention. In this four-week course learners write their own kid-friendly whodunit and turn it into a playable mystery game in Roblox Studio.
In week one learners study the parts of a mystery, including the puzzle, suspects, motives, clues and red herrings. They invent a case, such as a missing museum diamond or a sabotaged baking contest, and write a short case file with three or four suspects. Week two focuses on building the scene. Learners build the mystery location in Roblox Studio, place suspects with short dialogue using provided scripts and hide clues around the map. In week three learners plant red herrings and make sure the real clues logically point to one suspect, then code an accusation room where players choose who did it and see whether they were right. The final week is a case swap. Learners play each other's mysteries, give feedback on clue fairness and revise their stories.
The teacher supports both writing and building and teaches how good mysteries play fair with the reader. All mysteries are non-violent and age appropriate.
By the end learners will have a written case file and a playable whodunit game. Basic Roblox Studio skills are helpful.
