Roblox Coordinate Grids: Map and Navigate a Game World

Every object in Roblox has a position, and those positions are coordinates. In this four-week course learners in grades 5 and 6 use Roblox Studio to understand coordinate grids in a hands-on, visual way.

In week one learners explore the coordinate plane, learning about the x-axis, y-axis and origin. They plot points on paper and then match them in Studio by placing parts at exact positions. Week two introduces all four quadrants and negative numbers, and learners discover how Roblox uses x and z for the ground and y for height. They move objects by changing coordinates and predict where an object will land before testing it.

In week three learners use coordinates to describe paths and distances. They measure the distance between points on the same line and design routes through a maze using coordinate directions. The final week is a treasure hunt challenge. Learners hide treasure in their world, write coordinate clues for classmates and then solve each other's hunts.

The teacher explains each idea with simple diagrams and connects coordinates to real uses like maps and GPS. Learners practice with short problems after each class.

By the end learners will confidently plot and read points in all four quadrants and understand how coordinates are used in games and maps. Basic Roblox Studio skills are helpful.

How classes work

Each class combines a short coordinate lesson with hands-on placement tasks in Roblox Studio. Learners finish with practice problems and a group challenge.
