Pokémon Science: The Real Animals Behind Pokémon

Many Pokémon are inspired by real animals, from electric eels to owls and axolotls. In this four-week course kids explore those real animals and the adaptations that help them survive.

Each week compares a group of Pokémon with their real-life inspirations, and kids build a Pokédex-style fact file of real animals that they present on the final day.

How classes work

Each week starts with a short live demo of the new idea, followed by guided practice while the teacher checks in with every learner. Classes end with a small challenge to try before next time.

What we'll cover

• Week 1: Electric Animals – Compare electric Pokémon and electric eels.

• Week 2: Water Animals – Compare water types and sea animals.

• Week 3: Flying Animals – Compare bird Pokémon and real birds.

• Week 4: Pokédex Fact Files – Create and share fact files.

No experience needed. Learners need a device with a camera and microphone for live classes.
