We enrolled for the winter-themed short story format hoping to strengthen descriptive skills, and the image-based prompts did engage my 11-year-old. Because the course is only one lesson per week for four weeks, progress toward cohesive story structure felt limited unless we practiced additional writing at home. Also, completing a polished piece in a single 45-minute session was challenging at this age. It was useful overall, but families should expect to supplement the lessons.

The prompts encouraged my 9-year-old to use more sensory detail and the single 45-minute lesson each week fit our schedule well. The class pacing felt appropriate for practicing descriptive writing without being overwhelming. Only small quibble: a couple of weeks had similar themes.

This winter-themed creative writing class did a nice job teaching descriptive language and story structure across the four weeks. My 10-year-old enjoyed the image prompts, though I would've appreciated slightly more variety in the weekly assignments.
