Great or Terrible Leaders: Studying Leadership Across History

This was an excellent course — thoughtful, interdisciplinary, and well-paced for middle graders. The focus on evaluating leadership across global contexts sparked lively discussions at our dinner table and helped my 13-year-old think more critically about decisions and consequences. With once-a-week 55-minute lessons across ten weeks, the structure was manageable and kept my child engaged the whole time; I would happily recommend it to other parents of kids aged 9–13.

World History: Global Human Rights (Cambridge AS/A Level)

There were useful sections on historiography and source critique, and my 14-year-old learned a lot, but the course felt quite challenging at times. Twice-weekly 55-minute lessons across 40 weeks are a significant commitment and we had to reshuffle other activities to keep up. It might work better for slightly older or more experienced students.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Landmark Gender-Discrimination Cases

I enrolled my 14-year-old in this course because the topic and depth seemed perfect for high schoolers studying gender-discrimination cases. The lessons explained RBG's reasoning clearly and made thoughtful connections to modern Supreme Court issues. It was a valuable eight-week overview, though the pacing felt a bit fast at times for someone new to legal analysis.

Great or Terrible Leaders: Studying Leadership Across History

As a parent of a 12-year-old, I appreciated the historical range and the emphasis on leadership styles. The weekly 55-minute sessions over 10 weeks provided continuity, but the pacing sometimes moved quickly through complex events. My child enjoyed discussing whether leaders were 'great or terrible,' yet I wished there were more age-graded examples to help younger students follow along.
