Unit 5: Full Curriculum — Math, ELA, Science & Social Studies

We found a lot to like in the topics—earth and space, nutrition, and the human body were engaging—but the schedule of four 60-minute lessons per week felt a bit heavy for our 8-year-old. Some units moved quickly and required more parent support than we expected, though the content itself was solid and age-appropriate.

Unit 5: Full Curriculum — Math, ELA, Science & Social Studies

As a parent of a 10-year-old I appreciated the curriculum's variety — Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies were all covered in meaningful ways over the seven weeks. The civics-oriented problem solving tied to community issues and basic economics was a standout; it encouraged my child to think about real-world problems. Overall the hands-on, project-based format made the 60-minute lessons engaging and the four lessons per week felt like a productive rhythm.

Unit 5: Full Curriculum — Math, ELA, Science & Social Studies

The math lessons on line plots, multi-step word problems, and angle measurement were right at my child's level and felt very practical. Science units on human body systems and nutrition sparked lots of at-home conversations. Pacing was good for a 9-year-old and the project-based approach helped with retention.

IEW Writing Essentials: Key Word Outlines and Dress-Ups

I enrolled my 10-year-old in the IEW Writing Essentials course and appreciated how the key word outlines and dress-up techniques helped him organize paragraphs and improve style in both narrative and summary pieces. The twice-weekly, 30-minute lessons over eight weeks were a good pace, though sometimes the sessions felt a bit short for all the guided practice before the weekly assignments and final project.
