World War I History with Soldier Poetry

Solid course for middle and early high school ages with clear coverage of trench warfare, technology, the homefront and peace terms, plus fun poetry templates. My 12-year-old enjoyed creating a class poem and trying some individual writing. I would have liked a little more time for students to share their own poems, but overall it was a worthwhile nine-week experience.

World War I History with Soldier Poetry

My 14-year-old was completely engaged by the mix of WWI history — maps, photos, primary sources and short video clips — and the poetry segment using soldier poems; the 55-minute weekly classes over nine weeks felt well paced.
