5th Grade Core Curriculum — Unit 1 (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies)

The course covers a lot—reading comprehension, narrative and opinion writing, math topics like exponents and coordinates, plus science and social studies basics—and the interactive activities and projects are worthwhile. However, my 11-year-old found parts of the curriculum either too easy or too rushed depending on the lesson, so pacing felt inconsistent. The 60-minute lessons four times a week are a big time commitment and sometimes felt repetitive over the eight-week period. Still, there are useful elements like regular spelling practice and a clear introduction to civics and basic economics, so it was a mixed experience for us.

5th Grade Core Curriculum — Unit 1 (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies)

We appreciated the clear mix of subjects like coordinates and exponents in math and animal adaptations and gravity in science. The narrative and opinion writing lessons paired well with reading comprehension across genres. Lessons at 60 minutes, four times a week fit nicely into our schedule for the full eight weeks.
