Short, focused, and effective: 45 minutes once a week over four weeks gave my 10-year-old time to digest the story and reflect on its survival and resilience themes without feeling overwhelmed.

As a parent of an 11-year-old I appreciated that the course focuses on character and plot development and also looks at how the book differs from the movie adaptation. The 45-minute lessons felt well-paced across the nine weeks and didn't overwhelm our evenings. By the end my child seemed more confident analyzing the story and actually looked forward to each weekly meeting.

The guided reading approach helped my daughter improve comprehension and pick up new vocabulary. We liked the emphasis on resilience and the environment throughout the four-week study.

This nine-week book study was a perfect fit for our schedule with one lesson per week. Comparing the novel to the film kept my 13-year-old engaged and prompted some great conversations at home.
