California History: Geography, Peoples, and Economic Development

Good overview of California history with clear lessons on geography, the Mexican period, and migration. My child found the videos and games fun, but at times the pacing felt either rushed through big topics or a bit slow on others. For a 10-year-old who already knows some basics, parts of the course felt introductory, though the storytelling did keep them interested. It's a solid option for families wanting a structured, one-lesson-per-week approach over the full 36 weeks.

United States History — Full-Year Middle School Curriculum

We appreciate the wide topic coverage from early indigenous cultures through civil rights, and the notes pages and primary sources are useful for studying. However, with only one 45-minute lesson per week, my 11-year-old sometimes struggles to retain everything between classes. The optional homework helps a bit, but I wish there were either more frequent lessons or slightly more structured assignments to reinforce learning.

California History: Geography, Peoples, and Economic Development

The course covers a lot of important ground — Indigenous peoples, exploration, statehood and later economic development — which I appreciate. That said, meeting just once a week for 45 minutes sometimes feels like not enough to retain everything. Overall it's useful but could use a bit more reinforcement between lessons.
