The Four-Square approach really helped my 8-year-old get the hang of structuring three-paragraph essays. The 45-minute lesson once a week for six weeks covered narrative, descriptive, informative and opinion pieces with a good balance of discussion, guided practice, and independent writing, and I could see their confidence with paragraphs grow. I would have liked an extra weekly session or a bit more time for practice, but overall it was a solid intro.
